Media concentration in the US

The effects of concentration of ownership in the US media. It doesn't require a conspiracy theory to realize that the interests of big corporations quite often coincide on political issues. So while there is an argument to be made that a few private owners of media are still better then a complete state monopoly there is even a better argument to be made for a high number of private owners in addition to state media - at least in a democracy and a free market economy...with only 6 (down from 50 companies) corporations controlling the US media, there is certainly more regulated information than before. Perversely this concentration was effected under the labels of "free markets" and "deregulation". George Orwell's 1984 is a must read again.

Interesting video clip, the picture quality is not top, and it is taking some time to view it, so break it down into 3 lumps over the weekend and watch it!

"Das ist das Geheimnis der Propaganda; den, den die Propaganda fassen will, ganz mit den Ideen der Propaganda zu durchtränken, ohne dass er überhaupt merkt, dass er durchtränkt wird." - 1933 Joseph Goebbels
